Have you ever thought about how you shop? Is there a process you go through when you
decide to go out and buy something? I
think for most of us, that answer is no.
We need something, we go buy it!
Krimson & Klover is privileged to be a featured small business for
American Express’s Small Business Saturday happening November 30th. So our post today is all about how shopping
small businesses not only helps those small businesses, it helps you and your
local community!
Small businesses are all over the place, most of the time
they go unnoticed because they are never heard of. The budgets for large businesses far exceed
those of the smaller guys; so these businesses depend on their community to
share experiences with friends and family to help drive traffic to their
shops. If you don’t ever shop with these
smaller companies, you could really be missing out on some hidden gems! Most small companies offer a uniqueness you
cannot find at a large company, they bring jobs to your local community and
typically hire employees with a better understanding of the products or
services they sell. Studies show that
when you buy from an independent, locally owned business, significantly more of
your money is used to make purchases from other local businesses, which
strengthens the economic base of your community. Where we spend our money, from eating out,
where we shop to where we go to have fun, all of these go into to making our
community home. These small businesses
also have a chance to thrive from tourism. “When people go on vacation they
generally seek out destinations that offer them the sense of being someplace,
not just anyplace.” ~Richard Moe, President, National Historic Preservation
Trust
Now that we have done all this small business talk, Krimson
& Klover would like to share some of our favorite local businesses we love
to support.
Of course, we have to start with our very own fashion
boutique. If you ever drive down Cole
Ave, there is no way you miss our cute little house with the bright pink
door! Krimson & Klover was originally
opened in 2003 by two sisters who loved the fashion industry and passed on to
local fashionista Lindsey Harrison in 2012.
We recently celebrated 10 years of business with friends and family at
the Krimson & Klover Epic Block Party, where we invited a ton of other
local businesses to come and show the community what they have to offer. At Krismon & Klover, we strive to provide
you with exceptional customer service and fashion you won’t find anywhere else
in the DFW area at an extremely reasonable price for boutique clothing. When you wear Krimson & Klover, you are
sure to get tons of compliments and won’t run into anyone wearing your awesome
outfit!
One of our next favorite spots is Blaine’s Hair, Face and Beauty!
Blaine Schlaudt has been in Dallas for 18 years, providing full service
beauty experiences. Blaine is one of the
most sought after hair artists in the area and has appeared over 50 times in
the media, from Good Morning Texas to D Magazine. With the holidays coming up, we suggest you
pay Blaine’s a visit for the ultimate beauty pampering. Their services include make-up, facials, tanning
and waxing…you can even book them for your big day with a bridal package!
Our next local find is Cork Wine Bar! Jeff & Stephanie Rennells purchased Cork
a few years ago and have taken great pride in providing exciting and unique
wine finds for the DFW area. Cork has a
state of the art pour system that holds 48 different wine options for their
customers to grab a sample or glass.
Once you find one you really love, grab a bottle, find a spot on their
patio and enjoy the great people watching.
Cork has a variety of cheese plates to choose from along with
spectacular chocolates to pair with your wine.
Hungry for more? They also allow
you to bring in your own food and have several places right next to them to
choose from. If you are looking to book
a wine event, they have several wine packages to choose from with a great
private wine room or you can rent the whole space to have plenty of room for
everyone! So whether you are looking
for a great happy hour, unique date spot, a great bottle to take home or a
place to throw a great party, make sure you give them a visit, you will NOT be
disappointed! Also, if you love wine but
don’t know a whole lot about it, do not hesitate to ask, they love to talk about
wine and share the very best with their customers. Be sure to watch their calendar
for free wine tastings, food truck & wine pairings and a ton of other fun
events.
Are you having a holiday party, corporate event or wedding
that needs something amazing? Let us
introduce you to our next small business favorite, Gro Floral & EventDesign.
This place is not your ordinary flower shop, this incredible team of
music lovers, color & texture experts and design specialists strive to go
above and beyond to bring you the best creative arrangements that will wow
every guest. At Gro they believe there
is always room to push boundaries and set new standards. Every event is meant to be unique and stand
out above the rest, so when you have a need for incredible arrangements, this
is your one stop shop!
Now, if you know us at Krimson & Klover, you know we
LOVE dogs! So it is pretty obvious we
have to include our favorite little pet shop in town, Urban Dogg. At Urban Dogg they take the pain out of
bathing your dog and replace it with a fun environment to help with the
process. They offer a self-service area
for you to wash your pet, or if you need them to take care of it there are also
full-service grooming packages available.
While you are there you can also pick up a bag of high quality dog food
and treats! So the next time it rains
and your dog looks you in the face before darting to the closest mud puddle and
rolling around, remember that Urban Dogg is there to help put that smile back
on your face and turn your now black dog back to that pretty shade of
white.
We can’t finish up this post without bringing you something
to fill your belly! We love that food
trucks have made a roaring come back…we have some excellent food truck options
in the DFW area, so today we bring you our favorite, Easy Slider. If you haven’t tried these fabulous sliders,
look up their calendar and hunt this
truck down ASAP! These gourmet sliders
are made with fresh ingredients from the Farmer’s Market and Certified Angus
beef! And guess what; they serve
Texas-born baby portabella mushrooms and desserts made locally…remember what we
were saying about your dollars staying local?
So go out, find this bright blue truck, fill your belly and get a free
high five!
These are just a few of our local favorites, so as we wrap
this LONG blog post up, remember to not only participate in American Express’s
Small Business Saturday November 30th, but start to think about how you decide on
where you are going to make certain purchases.
Our community and the awesome people who own these amazing places depend
on you to keep their doors open!
