Girls Weekend Getaway!

Summer is upon us ladies!  The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and the water is calling our name.  This blog post is all about planning the perfect weekend getaway for you and your girlfriends.  We have chosen to escape to Cedar Creek Lake, located just over an hour outside of Dallas.  If you have never been to Cedar Creek, you are in for a treat!

When choosing our location, we knew what we wanted, 2+ bathrooms, enough bedrooms and beds to fit comfortably, a stocked kitchen, great patio, but most important...waterfront!  So we chose Seaside Island.  4 bedrooms that sleep up to 12, 2100 sq ft deck with huge oak tress for shade and 94 ft of lakefront area!  This place is PERFECT for a girls weekend getaway!

Now what planning needs to be done to make this perfect getaway go off without a hitch?  First we need to have food!  So we have planned out easy snacks and meals to make sure we stay fed for our stay.  After a long week at work and our drive out, we want to keep Friday dinner simple, just get a couple frozen pizzas, pop them in the oven and just enjoy your evening.  We really like California Pizza Kitchen pizzas, but another option is before leaving Dallas, stop by Papa Murphy's and pick up a couple pies, they are delicious!  Below are links to recipes for the rest of the weekend: click the image for recipes
Breakfast Casserole:

Lunch:  Sandwiches, fruit and chips

Dinner: Grill Out!!

Snacks: Loaded Baked Potato Dip (WARNING: this stuff is awesome!)

10 Insanely Delicious Guacamole Dips:

Alright, now that food is taken care of, it is on to the next most important ingredient for the weekend, COCKTAILS!  Whether you decide to keep it as simple as beer or cosmos, we want to share a few of our favorites: again, click the image for the recipe
Strawberry Ginger Punch:

The Savory Daisy:
Lillet Rose Spring Cocktail:

Ok, we are now fed and have an idea for beverages, how will we entertain ourselves?  There are many options for this, we start with taking a dip in the lake.  If your group wants to get out on the lake, there are options to rent a boat or jet skis.  Once we have had all the water fun we can and we have taken our afternoon nap, we are refreshed and ready for more fun!  We suggest bringing fun games that are great for groups, our favorites are: Cranium, Guesstures, Taboo, Apples to Apples...the list could go on and on, remember we have a 1200 sq ft deck, so make sure you are playing those fun games outside!

All of these activities have gotten us to Saturday evening, after we grill, it is time to make the most of our final evening here.  We decided to take advantage of our beautiful fire pit down by the lake.  Cocktails are prepared, now its time to hang out and chill (or get crazy, it is all up to you!)  Anyone play an instrument?  Have a jam session!  Just sit around, drink, be girls and gossip about your favorite celebrities....OR play some fun drinking games, really you can turn anything into a drinking game!  Every time someone says "like" everyone has to drink.  Here are some fun drinking games with instructions and rules:

Wow, is it really already Sunday?  Time flies when you are having fun!  Help your hangover with some of that yummy casserole!  Hang around until you MUST check out of the house and take advantage of the space you have rented...girls weekend getaways don't happen all the time!  We hope you enjoyed your weekend and got to make some great memories with your closest girlfriends.

Here is a packing list to make sure you don't forget what is important:
Food
Alcohol and mixers
Swimsuit and sunscreen
Sunglasses
Clothes
Bathroom essentials
Games
Advil
Bottled water
Firewood
Lighter fluid
Camera
Music
iHome

Also, since the listing talks about the deck & trees around the deck, we would suggest bring extension cords and Christmas lights, makes for a great evening ambiance for Saturday night around the fire.
